Twenty-one Roosevelt/Central Academy students have been practicing since December to get ready for Regional and State Mock Trial Tournaments. Out of 39 teams, both Roosevelt teams advanced to the state meet, to be held March 30 - April 1
The students are grouped into two teams of 10 for the competition. One student is an Assistant Coach. The Mock Trial program is sponsored by the Iowa State Bar Association each year, and hundreds of middle and high school teams compete statewide, sending
around 160 teams from all over Iowa to the initial competitions. Each team prepares both the Plaintiff’s and the Defense side of the case. This year’s case involves stolen art work from a museum in Grinnell. Students are assigned witness and attorney roles. Four attorneys volunteer to coach these teams. The TRHS Foundation provided a grant for the Mock Trial students and coaches to participate in the event.
Congratulations, Rider Teams!
