The Riders are back in action! After months of COVID-regulated events, the Roosevelt community is ready to celebrate spring and is kicking if off with SPIRIT WEEK!
Spirit Week is normally a tradition Roosevelt staff and students celebrate leading up to Homecoming. This year due to the cancelation of Homecoming, students are excited to have a fun week added to the spring semester.
Spirit week encourages students and staff to show their Roosevelt school spirit by dressing up during school days and participating in activities each evening. Monday was beach day and offered a snow-cone food truck to students’ afterschool.
Tuesday was decades day with staff and students dressing up with outfits from the 20’s to the 90’s. That evening was a bowling event at Merle Hay Lanes. Wednesday was everyone’s favorite, Pajama day, with a junior vs. senior kickball game in the evening. Thursday is a day for everyone to represent their grade. Freshman wear red, sophomores wear purple, juniors wear blue and seniors wear togas. Yes, togas.
The traditional bonfire in the green space was a welcomed event, making it feel like things are finally getting back to normal. Friday is Spirit Day with everyone encouraged to wear their Rider Gear and celebrate with a fun movie night! The Student council will be showing “Black Panther” and concessions were offered with proceeds going to student council.
Its was such a welcome return to normal with Spirit Week and so many spring sports getting back to normal. Tennis, soccer, rugby, golf and The Sharks are all in full swing giving Roosevelt much to be excited about. With Classes in-session, sports on the move and school spirit in the halls, Roosevelt feels like home.
